  16.                             NEW MAC GAMES LIST
  17.                             ------------------
  18.  
  19. This is the New Mac Games List, where all the latest in Macintosh
  20. Game Software is briefly mentioned.  The first part deals with all
  21. the new and updated information, while the second part shows the
  22. full list.
  23.  
  24. All Games fall into one or more of the following categories:
  25.  
  26. AC    Arcade/Action (e.g. Oids) - shoot 'em ups.  Games that don't
  27.       require deep thought, but do require very good eye-hand
  28.       coordination.
  29. AO    Add-On (e.g. SimCity Graphics Sets) - modules that require
  30.       another game to play.  Usually not required to purchase, but
  31.       they can add a whole new level to many games.
  32. CD    CD-ROM game (e.g. Spaceship Warlock) - games that are on a
  33.       CD-ROM disk.  Usually have extensive graphics and sound.
  34. FR    Fantasy Role Playing (e.g. Might & Magic) - games that have
  35.       characters with attributes, classes, etc.  You go around,
  36.       kill monsters, get experience, go up in levels.  Similar to
  37.       the Dungeons & Dragons pen and paper games.
  38. GA    Graphic Adventure (e.g. Space Quest IV) - graphic adventures
  39.       are those games in which you control the hero as he moves
  40.       around the screen, interacting with other people and objects
  41.       on the screen.
  42. NT    Networkable Game (e.g. Spectre) - a game which can be played
  43.       with other players via a network or modem.
  44. RU    HUGE Rumor (e.g. Wing Commander V for the Mac) - a rumor
  45.       even too big for us not to mention it as very wild.
  46. SI    Simulation (e.g. Hellcats) - simulations are those games
  47.       which allows you to "go inside" some sort of object, whether
  48.       an airplane, car, or even a living being.  You then have
  49.       complete control of the object you're in, and it reacts to
  50.       your commands.  Does not include games like Civilization or
  51.       SimCity, even though they're technically "simulations".
  52. SP    Sports (e.g. Club Racquetball) - any game that deals with a
  53.       sport or sporting activity.
  54. ST    Strategy (e.g. SimEarth) - games that require you to think
  55.       about the future, and plan your moves accordingly.
  56. TA    Text Adventure (e.g. Zork I) - games that have no or very
  57.       little graphics and rely on text, both for input and game
  58.       play descriptions.
  59. WG    War Game (e.g. Strategic Conquest) - games that deal with
  60.       war.  Most of these types of games are also strategic.
  61. [mac] = Any game that was originally programmed for the mac.
  62. [port] = Any game that was originally programmed for another
  63.          computer platform and later moved to the mac.  Does not
  64.          distinguish for quality of "port".
